Discover the Story Your Body Remembers
You've read the books. Tried the therapy. Done the work. And somehow the same reaction still shows up out of nowhere. That's not a failure of willpower — it's a signal. Somewhere beneath the surface, your body is still holding a story your mind already tried to close.
If you keep getting triggered and can't quite figure out why, you're not imagining it.
Maybe you've read every book, tried every framework, sat through years of therapy or self-development — and the pattern still finds its way back. You might notice yourself:
- Reacting more strongly than the situation seems to call for
- Feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stressed for no obvious reason
- Repeating the same relationship pattern, just with a different name
- Struggling with self-doubt, people-pleasing, or perfectionism
- Feeling oddly disconnected from yourself, even on good days
- Knowing something needs to change, but not knowing what
"Your body remembers what your mind has forgotten."
The reactions you're living with today may be tied to experiences, beliefs, and survival strategies your body built years — even decades — ago, to keep you safe.
The good news: you don't have to keep living from old programming.
Shirley Clarke
Emotions ArchaeologistI believe there's a solution to almost every problem — physical or emotional. I know that because I've lived it. I spent years doing everything you're "supposed" to do, and still found myself reacting to my own life from somewhere I couldn't name.
What finally changed things wasn't more willpower. It was going beneath the surface — using trauma-informed, body-based work to find what my nervous system had been quietly protecting all along. That's the work I now get to do with my clients: gently, at your pace, with zero judgment about anything you're carrying.
This isn't about fixing you. You were never broken. It's about understanding the story your body has been carrying, and creating the space for it to finally settle.
Why Emotional Archaeology?
When something painful happens, we don't always get to fully process it in the moment. So the body adapts — it builds patterns, beliefs, and protective responses designed to keep you safe. Years later, those same strategies can still be running the show, showing up as anxiety, emotional triggers, relationship friction, perfectionism, people-pleasing, self-sabotage, or a low hum of disconnection you can't quite shake.
The Surface
What everyone notices first — the trigger, the reaction, the symptom you came in wanting to fix.
The Pattern
What's underneath — the belief and the protective strategy your body built to keep this from hurting you again.
The Root
What's beneath that — the original moment or relationship where this pattern was first laid down.
Together, we gently excavate what's beneath each layer — not to relive it, but to finally understand it.

What Changes, Beneath the Surface
Following my father's death, I thought I was coping — until I couldn't switch off, couldn't sleep, couldn't concentrate. My wife said I'd become impossible to live with. Shirley helped lift a weight I didn't even realise I was carrying, and got me back to the person I used to be.
A client, on grief he didn't know he was still carryingMy fibromyalgia flared up again while I was pregnant, so I couldn't take my usual pain relief. The pain started easing after our first session — we traced it to a car accident seven years earlier. I'm pain-free now, sleeping well, and looking forward to motherhood.
A client, on chronic pain and its hidden rootI rely on Shirley to keep optimising my health and energy so I can keep showing up for my own clients. By now she's a genuinely important part of my team — I know my success is also possible because of her constant support.
